Afonso Godinho Photography is the result of a passion for photography whose main goal has always been to challenge our creative limits to grow and learn from this path. We always deliver our best to create the most personalized and unforgettable memories.
Between photography and video, we always work together to maintain our own visual identity common to all our work. We bet above all on real emotions, moments that we consider unique and that we register through a very attentive, close, and discreet look.
We enjoy meeting people, spending time with them, and documenting their lives. At weddings we like to participate in a discreet way, so that our work can reflect a close look at the emotions experienced on that day.
We do wedding photography and videos in Porto but we are also available to move around the world.

What is your approach to the wedding day?
Our approach is always the same, but making it unique for each couple, since every wedding is different, so we try to talk to the bride and groom to try to understand how they idealize their big day. On the wedding day we like to capture the real feelings and connections between people to create photographs that have meaning for the bride and groom!
What is more suitable for my wedding, one photographer or two?
We believe that up to 160 guests a photographer is best to ensure the most discretion on your day, keeping the focus on the bride and groom and close guests and family. If the bride and groom expect more than 160 guests then we suggest two photographers to be able to guarantee capturing other moments and situations among the guests.
How do you organize the schedules for the wedding?
To facilitate scheduling with the bride and groom since we understand that wedding preparations take time, less than a month before the wedding, we send a form with all the details we need to know for the entire day, such as locations, times, contacts, and special requests. We analyze this information and send you our feedback on how we intend to approach the wedding day, so that we can cover all the important moments, including the bride and groom’s preparations.
How long does the delivery of the photos and videos take?
After the wedding, in the first 48 hours, we always try to send some pictures to satisfy the curiosity of the bride and groom! The delivery of the photographs can take up to 2 months, however, depending on the time of year it may take less time. Since the editing is done with great care to create timeless memories, they always take time.
Video has a longer delivery time since the videographer has to go through the entire wedding and select the best moments of the bride and groom and guests in order to meet expectations.
I’m not good at being photographed and now what?
One of our jobs is to make the person feel more at ease, so we make sure they have fun and enjoy their big day.
Do you do group photos?
Yes we do, before the big day we ask the bride and groom if they would like to have group photos with everyone. If the bride and groom are not interested in this type of photography, we suggest doing natural portraits with only their immediate family.
How do you choose the music for the videos?
We like the bride and groom to give their suggestions and we will always take the songs into consideration, however, in order to make amazing videos we will only be able to use the songs if they tie in well with the videos. The final result of the videos will always meet the expectations of the bride and groom!
What is an engagement session?
It is a one-hour pre-wedding session in a location that suits the bride and groom’s personality and where they feel most comfortable. We believe that this session is very important for the bride and groom to be more at ease on the big day.
Can we use the photos from the engagement session?
Yes of course, all the photos taken at the engagement session are handed out and the bride and groom can use them at their leisure.
Do you do portraits of the bride and groom on the wedding day?
On the wedding day we like to take a few moments with the bride and groom so they can have some special photographs, the timing of these photographs is arranged with the bride and groom.
I hate posed pictures, is that a problem?
Of course not, we like to meet the tastes of the bride and groom, we will do our best to make them feel comfortable and have memorable photos!
