Getting Married at Casa de Vila Verde:
Scale, History, and Perfect Lighting

Manor House Vineyards Documentary
Casa de Vila Verde

As a photojournalist, my goal is to intervene as little as possible and let the day unfold naturally. Casa de Vila Verde is the perfect setting for this; with its impressive grounds, the property’s monumental scale allows me to capture your story without having to hover over the guests.

But when it comes time for the couple’s photos, that brief moment of the day set aside for portraits, this location truly shines. From the imposing façade to the endless vineyards, everything here works in the camera’s favor.

The Mansion: Making a Lasting Impression

Let’s be practical: it’s not possible to go inside the mansion, and there’s no need to. The real photographic potential lies in the exterior façade, it’s the perfect setting for welcoming guests, where the architecture serves as an elegant backdrop without stealing the spotlight.

“Cutting the cake in front of the building's facade is a visually striking moment, the building's scale lends the final photograph a grandeur that will be remembered.”

For me, this is where the photos really shine, where the ceremony takes place or the cake is cut with glasses raised high, and the manor house provides a natural yet sophisticated backdrop.

The Staircase and Group Logistics

The stone staircase isn't just beautiful, it's functional, too. It's one of the most photogenic spots for editorial portraits, allowing you to play with the lines and the length of the dress.

When it comes to group photos, the venue offers complete flexibility. We have private spots for quick photos with parents and godparents, away from the hustle and bustle. For the main group photo with guests, the spacious gardens are also an excellent option.

Vineyards and Drones: The “Hero Shot”

The engagement photo shoot in the vineyards does not disappoint; the rows of vines create perfect vanishing lines for the camera.

This is where the drone becomes a storytelling tool rather than just a toy; I use it to capture your presence against the backdrop of the landscape at sunset, the true “hero shot” that conveys the scale of the location. Later, during the outdoor party with the DJ, the drone takes off again to capture the energy of the dance floor from above, something that’s impossible to convey from the ground.

The Rustic Dinner

The dining room moves away from a palatial style and embraces a rustic aesthetic. It is a space full of character, where stone and wood create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Photographically, this space benefits from warm ambient lighting (candles, pendant lights), creating a much more intimate and relaxed atmosphere for dinner, in contrast to the grandeur of the exterior.

Frequently Asked Questions:
The Photographer's Perspective

1. Where can we do the preparation?

There is a room available at the farm for the bride; it’s a practical space for last-minute touch-ups and getting dressed, though it has more subdued, intimate lighting. If abundant natural light for makeup is a priority, I suggest you contact us so we can handle the logistics, but the space serves its purpose well as an on-site “base.”

2. Would you recommend using a drone for our wedding?

The drone really shines during transitional moments, such as your sunset session in the vineyards, the energy of the outdoor party with the DJ, and the cake-cutting ceremony.

3. What if it rains?

Casa de Vila Verde features covered spaces that retain a rustic atmosphere; I can adapt to any setting, ensuring that the party’s vibe comes through, whether under the sun or on a cozy porch.

Casa de Vila Verde provides the setting and the history. I bring the documentary perspective to ensure that all of this is captured authentically.
